Anyone else heard this yet? It's a strange beast, for sure. Lots of electronics and drum machines, lyrics fragmentary at best, sounds like Alan recorded some of his vocals with a heavy cold. There are moments of real beauty, but they're pretty few and far between on early plays. Sounds like Portishead in places.
Apparently the Radiohead fan flock are calling it "their 'Kid A'", which should be enough to damn it for all eternity. I'm going to reserve judgement for now.

Thought their last record was hit and miss too.. yep, I'd agree on that. Shame, as they'd produced a run of consistently excellent albums stretching back 10 years prior to that.

wonder if the songs sound better in live form I saw them play a few of them (last year? seems longer ago) but I think the arrangements have been changed on the record. They came across pretty well live, certainly better than some of the Great Destroyer material. One further thing on this record - it's a surefire sign that something has got lost when bands start writing lyrics about the Beatles and the Stones. It was the point at which I lost interest in the House Of Love, and it may well happen here again.
