They're touring the UK now, and heading to the States soon. Make sure you go and see them play. That's all I'll say.. www.myspace.com/fuckbuttons

The first track on the album is absolute gold. The rest really isn't floating my boat at the moment, but I'll persist.
They put on a decent show here a few weeks back.

I think we can safely say we enjoyed a pretty exceptional show here in Glasgow - the band even said so in their post tour write-up! drownedinsound.com/articles/3010921Atmosphere was electric.

Couldn't agree more, the first track 'Sweet Love For Planet Earth' is worth buying (yes buying!!) the album for alone. Check the track out on their myspace www.myspace.com/fuckbuttons

I thought there might be a thread here. I was just checking them out because they're supporting Battles at The Astoria in May and I find out they're fantastic! I've just ordered the 2xLP and the 7" but I'm really enjoying the album immensely and not just the first track although that is great. I'm excited about the live performance reports too.
They remind me a little of a distorted, twisted M83. I love the vocals and the way they generally come in at the peak of the build. It's so primal in feeling. I've read people describing it as tribal and they're right.
I've also heard that John Cummings was involved in the recording of the album too. Any more information on that? Was he basically the producer?

The album was produced by John Cummings & Time Cedar & mastered by Bob Weston. Not a bad trio to have behind the controls of your first album!
Took a while for me to be completely bowled over by the album but having listened to hardly anything else this week I'm now completely smitten. Despite my new found disliking for London gigs (QEH aside) the battles astoria show is very tempting especially as i missed Fuck Buttons show in Brighton last month I would love to see how it comes across live.

Liars are on the bill too.
EDIT Actually they're not anymore. They just cancelled. Hopefully Mogwai will fill the gap.

I got Fuck Buttons' album today despite the awful band name and not having heard them, partially from the good reports here! I haven't listened to it yet, but should do tomorrow...

You know, my initial excitement has waned a lot since I first heard them. I don't think the album holds up to repeated listening. There aren't that many ideas in there really. They were pretty good live but it was basically the same stuff and the new track they played didn't blow me away.
I haven't written them off or anything, but I was quite enthusiastic originally a few posts up and feel much less so now. Silly.

I've put it away for a fortnight and just slaped it on. It remains the best album of the year by miles. Get yo' excitement on!

The first song on their myspace player is good, I wasn't so keen on the second, it seemed to be pretty similar but shorter. I hope I didn't just listen to the single edit of the first song. Not too sure about the name Fuckbuttons, trying a bit too hard to be controversial and "underground" maybe. I'll have to hear a few more of their songs before deciding if i'll buy the album. They really should upload some more myspace tunes, although i havent checked youtube or last fm out yet!

There are only 6 tracks on the album so I wouldn't have thought they'd upload too many more to the myspace.
The two tracks on their myspace are different btw. I found that its one of those albums that deserves to be listened to completely and urge you to give it a chance. I stand by my album of the year remark from earlier and can only see that being topped by rememberremember & the 'gwai.

I don't like them much at all. I think they sound really pretentious and Nathan Barley to be honest, something I've never associated with Mogwai whatsoever.

I ended up taking the album back...maybe I didn't get them, but I didn't see anything to get, to be honest.

I can understand that its not everyones cup of tea. Still trying to convince wifey they're the best thing since sliced bread but she thinks "they're a bit pointless".

time to revive an old thread me thinks...
New album is too good for words. If you didn't like the first one then give them another go, if you did like it then you are in for a reeeeeeeeeeeeeal treat!

Got into them after seeing them support Mogwai back at Hammersmith last October. Street Horrrsing is amazing. Is there a release date for their new one yet?

New album "Tarot Sport" is due out October 20th, 2009. Got my tickets for their gig here at Carré Rotondes. I'm feeling a bit silly though for spending what was supposed to be my (computer-less) weekend off with "two guys checking their emails live on stage." ;-)

Got Tarot Sport yesterday, and I'm not really sure what to think of it. Cant help but think that they're reusing ideas a bit too much on it, and the tracks feel 'more danceable' which I'm not sure if i like or not... That said, Surf Solar and Flight of the Feathered Serpent are brilliant, which makes me think that i need to listen to it more, hopefully it'll grow on me
