Good to see that Kling Klang have the support slot on the northern European leg of the Portishead tour. Unless Portishead have taken a radical direction swerve, recent KK live experience suggests they'll bust a few eardrums.
Anyone for a game of 'less than six degrees of separation' to work out how they might have got the support slot?
On a vaguely related note - how come everything happens at once? The Portishead show in Wolverhampton on 13th April is the fourth show that night I'd quite happily attend (Breeders, Cibelle, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are the other three, so far at least). Dap Kings have my ticket money in their hot hands already, but at least there's plenty of other options if they cancel.

"machine gun" is probably their best single to date in my opinion. the last part sounds like something from the termintor 2 soundtrack!

Does the new lp improve on the second sitting? It was a real struggle to get through it first time round...

I do like the new album, but it certainly isn't as immediate as the others. I'm occasionally reminded of Scott Walker's "The Drift" and "Tilt", mainly because "Third" has a similar feel, as some of the tracks feel disjointed on first listen. A grower, though.

Disjointed is the adjective I was looking for! The Scott Walker comparison may help me understand why I didn't enjoy the new Portishead lp. Have never really got to grips with Walker despite many attempts.
Am going to find a quite corner, apply my cans and give it another try today.
