Speaking of which, I applied for tickets on the Itunes website the day this was announced and still haven't heard anything back. As this is now less than 3 weeks off, thats pretty shocking. Its the middle of summer where weekends get booked up pretty fast with other plans etc. Itunes are basically holding that weekend for ransom. What a pack of bastards.

Yeah, when are we meant to find out if we got them? Is pretty daft that despite the "festival" having started I am still none the wiser as to whether I am attending or not.

Likewise - no news as yet. I've heard talk of being told a week before the event from friends who have gone in the past.

Didn't think it was possible that I could dislike apple any more than I currently do. However this ticket application process is a fucking joke. 2-3 weeks away and still no word if I have or have not got tickets, annoying to say the least. not gonna bother with any of their shit from now on.

Is really bloody stupid, as even if I get tickets, the train is now so expensive I probably wont be able to go. Is such a daft system.

I can understand that it's frustrating for people outside London who need to make travel/accommodation arrangements, and I'd be fed up myself if I was in a position to go but wasn't sure whether I'd get tickets.
But let's not forget that it's free, and that's got to be a good thing.
It'd be great to think that a few folks who don't know Mogwai might go along because it's free and get blown away as we all have been. Although then Mogwai would have to play *even bigger* venues in London because there would be *even more people* wanting to see them.
What's the next step up the London gigging ladder beyond Brixton Academy?

Beyond Brixton? They might have to move outdoors! I'm not sure I could see Stuart coming on-stage to say 'Good evening Wembley..."

Any idea if we will be told if we haven't got them, or can we just assume that now?

Well it is still open to apply, so I wouldn't assume it has been decided at all yet.

Someone elsewhere claims you might not find out until the day before. In conclusion - not going.

Someone elsewhere claims you might not find out until the day before. In conclusion - not going. You would have thought this would be stated when you apply for the tickets. I applied about 2-3 months ago (pretty much the day it was announced) I've found out since then that I've got a mates wedding reception to go to. If I am successful I can't go to the gig, whereas there's bound to be another Gwai fan who will lose out. If I only find out 1 day before the gig, who else Is going to get the ticket that I applied for? I love the free gig, apply for tickets idea, but surely there's a more punter-friendly way of dealing with this?

It's poorly suited to a band like Mogwai, presumably half the people there will have applied for tickets for all nights and won't care/know who the band is. Which will probably result in a disinterested talking crowd. If it was, say, £5, and the rest subsidised by Apple then I think it would ensure more of an appropriate crowd as less people would apply... but I guess Mogwai could be playing no gig at all and if I did get tickets to this at least it would be a) free b) a Mogwai gig in the city I live in.

I've thrown my 'comment' into the Facebook comp. Checked my emails and I applied back in March via itunes. The email doesn't state when you're likely to hear back. A few folk doing the Facebook comment route have said friends have already got tickets for the gig. They don't say how they came by them, though. **update** someone had posted on the last.fm page for this gig that they've got their email. Hopefully they're staggering them

Hi guys - I got an email 2 days ago to say I was lucky enough to get tickets. If it helps, I'd applied through 2 of my own email addresses, my girlfriend's, plus through a separate Metro comp. I was therefore successful once in 4 attempts.

I got confirmation today that I managed to get in via the Facebook route which, given the amount of comments submitted, makes me a very lucky sod indeed! If anyone else here applied via that route, check the 'other' section in your messages (if you don't get email alerts and the like) just in case.

I just found out today that I've won a pair of tickets (entered via about half-a-dozen email addresses!).
Trouble is I'm not sure we're gonna go cos we're going to Bexhill the night before and, much as I love the 'gwai, these days it's just not practical to go to gigs two nights running (petrol, baby sitters, etc). Hey ho.

I was lucky enough to get some through the Metro competition, didn't have any luck with Itunes. Heard of someone who got tickets to five of the concerts, I think they applied to all the gigs. I feel I will have to control my rage at all the people that will no doubt be having loud conversations, especially during the quiet bits. Hopefully I am wrong.
Does anyone know what time Mogwai are on?

Just contacted the venue who told me 7.45pm and 9pm for the bands. @weareerrors tweeted earlier that they were on at 8pm, so there might be some give in the official times. The curfew is 11pm, so that would make 2hrs (hopefully!) of Mogwai. Need to be in by 8pm to guarantee your ticket stays valid!
**@Weareerrors just confirmed 7.45pm**

Pretty cool you can watch the concert online. Would still like to have got tickets though. is it recordable? Would love to see it, sadly don't have an appsupporting device It has also been webcast via iTunes and Apple TV. These shows will be available for a couple of days on iTunes, so you might still be able to watch it. BTW: There have been several commercial download "EPs" of other gigs (à 6 or 7 tracks) on iTunes (Foo Fighters, Linking Park etc). Don't know if something similar is planned for Mogwai. This was a great gig and very loud too! Whether that drowned out the chatterers I don't know, but it was a quiet gig in that respect. There were even *girls* *dancing* in the crowd, not something I've ever seen at a Mogwai gig. Okay...it was one girl dancing to Mexican GP!
I noticed a few people wandering out well before the end, so I hope they were rushing off to buy the band's back catalogue on iTunes. Definitely a venue they should play again in the future.
I got in too late to catch all of Errors, but the part I heard they were also excellent.
