Rock Action for me.
I love all their stuff, but RA just blew me away the first time I heard it.

I voted for EP + 6 but I regret it now, it should have been HSFHP, which is slightly more brilliant.

I think HSFHP just works the best as a whole album. Hasn't necessarily got all my fave songs on it but the length, variety and mood of the whole piece just works for me. Plus CODY - too long IMO and I don't like Dave Fridmann's production one little bit. The drum sound in particular I absolutely hate. I wish they'd re-record it with Tony Doogan in charge and with out certain tracks which i think are too similar in retrospect. I love his production work, mostly Happy Songs and the Telstar Ponies "In the Space of a Few Minutes" which is probably my fave album of all time. Again not all my fave tracks of all time or even my fave band - that would now have to be the 'Gwai, but it gets me like no other album ever has...

1. Rock Action 2. CODY 3. EP+6 4. Young Team 5. Ten Rapid 6. HSFHP (if only Fridmann produced it)

I like Ten Rapid the best, and Rock Action the least. although it's still a good album.

hi,
CODY without doubt, it is their only great album. I would say the output since then has been on a downward spiral, with a few exceptions, Kubrick, 2 Rights and Ratts, but not much else. CODY was Mogwai at their peak, it is the most coherent, and boats five or six truly amazing songs, whereas their is only one or two on the rest and after four years, it is still the only Mogwai album that me, and my friends, regularly play...
enjoy ;o)

Rock Action, without a doubt. The Rock Action songs sound best live too in my opinion.

Definitely ' I know you are' maybe 'Jesus', but don't you think CODY was the apogee Rob? RA is at best a decent EP, and whilst HSFHP is much better, it is noweher near as intense or moving or exciting as CODY...
;o)

don't you think CODY was the apogee Rob? nope. don't get me wrong, it's a damn good record, but i think it's maybe too long, and i'm afraid i suffer from long-term fridmann-ophobia. if tony doogan had produced 'cody' it may well have been my favourite record of all time....

Yep, come on Strongman, I've gone for Happy Songs, what do you reckon? the Direction Of A Strong Man (to confuse threads for a moment) would be towards Happy Songs as well. If ep+6 was a legitimate pick as an album, it would probably be up there as well. Shame Mogwai have never attempted Burn Girl prom Queen or Hugh Dallas live.

Young Team, it has like herod, mogwai fear satan, tracy and summer (although i prefer the ten rapid version)
It just feels more complete as an album more so than the others i think, but i love them all obviously

what do you mean, didn't you know there was a ep+6? i know of its existance, its just its not exactly the greatest of releases, each to their own i guess. most peeps like it for xmas steps but it sounds lame compared to the cody version. its sad i know but i remember the day i bought my copy of ep+6 it was in barcelonas smallest record shop. it was basically a designer clothes shop with 1 box full off cd's. i was amazed to see mogwai amongst them so i couldnt resist.
