At a guess (my favourite sport) and based to some extent on previous form: Jan - Japan/other far east Feb - Europe March - Australia April - UK May/June - US July/August - festivals September - back in the studio to get another album ready for Spring 2010 Some of this may be wrong, but let's hope not! Thankfully Rob you are not Mogwai's booking agent. As if you were our next time off after the new year would be October 2009!!! SB

Look like this east Asian trip in January could be longer than usual - as well as the already-announced Japan/Taiwan/Hong Kong shows, the rumours on a Malaysian show persist and a show in Singapore is reported for 23rd Jan.
The gap between Hong Kong and Malaysia makes me wonder whether they're off to China for the first time as well?

but why no UK tour in so long? what possible reason for that could there be? they seem to tour continental europe comprehensively with every tour, so why not the UK? just seems strange seeing as thats where they're from.

they seem to tour continental europe comprehensively with every tour, so why not the UK? just seems strange seeing as thats where they're from. My thoughts exactly. Some of the European cities they've played recently have pretty small populations too (150,000 or less) and some of the venues haven't been particularly big, so economics doesn't appear to be a factor. Since the last UK tour ended (7th April 2006), Mogwai have played 18 shows in the UK. This might appear to be a reasonable number. Six of those shows have been in Scotland (three in Edinburgh, two in Glasgow), five have been at festivals (higher admission prices, accommodation and food costs etc), four have been in London and two in Manchester, leaving the RAH warm-up in Leicester as the only 'exception to the rule'. Hopefully we'll have some good news about autumn 2009. The wait is frustrating.

Does seem strange, particularly as the new album doesn't seem to have done much.
